Liberty Eagles jumped out to a 14-6 lead early in the game. Salem hit a three at the buzzer to narrow the gap. 14-9 Liberty lead after one quarter.
In the second quarter, Liberty added to their lead. Carter Pruett scored a two as time expired to put the Eagles up 31-18 over the Tigers at the half.
Defense was the story of the first half, with Liberty holding Salem to nine points in the first quarter, and nine points in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Salem managed to slow Liberty’s momentum. Liberty still outscored Salem by two. Liberty up 49-34 after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, Salem managed to outscore Liberty by two, but it wasn’t enough. Liberty won 70-57.
Carter Pruett led all scorers with 16 points, matching a career high.
