Funeral services for Nelta Faye (Miller) Johnston, 92, West Plains, Missouri, formerly of Tremont, Illinois, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnston passed away at 7:03 a.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at her home.
She was born October 22, 1931, in Oregon County, Missouri, to Hobert W. Miller and Gertrude B. Judd Miller. On December 24, 1952, she was married at Salem, Arkansas, to Johnie Johnston, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2016. Mrs. Johnston spent her days being a wife, mother and homemaker in Tremont, Illinois. She enjoyed her houseplants along with her flower garden. She was a member of the Tazewell County Home Extension and enjoyed helping at the County fairs. She also volunteered at the Allentown Hall Saturday Breakfasts, which she would often make her sausage gravy; she also enjoyed the lunch outings with the Allentown Birthday Club. Mrs. Johnston was a member of the Morton Church of Christ.
She is survived by six children, Jo A. Johnston, West Plains, Ray (Jan) Johnston, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Rick (Marilyn ) Johnston, Greenwood, Indiana, Alan (Tina) Johnston, Tremont, Illinois, John S. Johnston, Tremont, Illinois and Roxanna Abernathy, West Plains; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Cora Winfrey, Marshall, Missouri, Peggy Huddleston, West Plains and Fern Harris, West Plains; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, one son, Gary Allen, two brothers, Joe and Cecil Miller, three infant brothers, Carl H., Ray D. and Harold J. and three sisters, Emma Roark, Margaret Carter and Minerva McKenzie preceded her in death.
Visitation services will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery.
