Marshfield, MO. – A man was killed in a car crash after his vehicle caught on fire during a two-vehicle collision.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the crash occurred on July 19, 2024, at 6:57 p.m. on MO 38 in Marshfield, Missouri. A police officer, 38-year-old Timothy Stuart of Mansfield, was turning a 2023 Ford F150 onto MO 38 when he was struck on the driver’s side of the vehicle by an oncoming motorcycle. Stuart’s vehicle and the oncoming motorcycle caught on fire during the crash. Stuart was minorly injured in the crash and was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment. 29-year-old Alexander Reed of Elkland was driving the motorcycle that caught fire and was fatally injured. He was announced dead on the scene by the Webster County Coroner.
The crash is currently under investigation. The Marshfield Police Chief stated that the motorcycle was reported stolen and was going at a high rate of speed before the collision. He also suspects that it is the same individual who was involved in a recent high-speed chase.
This is Troop D’s 51st fatality for 2024. The crash was investigated by Trooper A.M. James, Crash Team Corporal T.R. Wright, Trooper S.J. Hallam, and Trooper N.L. Vines of Troop D.
