Bobby Witt Jr. belted a three-run homer as the Royals roughed up the Diamondbacks 10-4 in Kansas City. Salvador Perez and Hunter Renfroe also went deep for the Royals, who have won four in-a-row since the All-Star break. Cole Ragans tossed six innings of three-run ball to improve to 7-and-6.
Witt Jr, who was just named the American League Player of the Week, also tripled and doubled and was a single shy of the cycle. Witt Jr was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning. Arizona manager Torey Louvullo was ejected claimed they did not intentionally hit the Royals superstar.
The Royals are sitting second in the AL Central at 56-and-45 and matched their win total from last season. They host the D-Backs again tonight. Right-hander Alec Marsh will start opposite Arizona southpaw Jordan Montgomery.
