Missouri – With July quickly coming to a close, back-to-school time is almost upon us once again. While collecting school supplies for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, don’t forget about Missouri’s tax free day for those items.
This day has been announced for Friday, August 2nd through Sunday, August 4th. During this state-recognized time period, sales tax will not be charged on items related to back-to-school time.
This includes:
– Clothing with a sales tax value less than $100.
– Textbooks, notebooks, pens, pencils, calculators, and other school supplies not exceeding $50 per purchase.
– Computers and computer peripheral devices that do not exceed a value of $1500.
Anyone who makes a purchase within Missouri is eligible for this benefit, and since 2023, this tax-free period applies even to local taxes. For more information, click here.
