Douglas County Man Convicted Of First Degree Murder

Douglas County, MO. – On July 25, 2024, William Wolfe Jr. was convicted of a 1st degree murder that happened in 2020. The jury deliberated for 2 hours before they returned, finding him guilty of Murder in the 1st degree, Armed Criminal Action, Abandonment of a Corpse, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, 5 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Resisting Arrest.

According to the original probable cause affidavit, the case began in September 2020 when the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a local logger and 2 family friends about the well-being of Clarence Clark. When deputies responded to the scene, they discovered Clark deceased in his bed from multiple gunshot wounds. When the Sheriff was called to the scene he saw the victim’s truck being driven in the opposite direction of the house by William Wolfe Jr. The sheriff started to pursue the truck but eventually stopped because he determined the pursuit would be dangerous and unsafe if it continued. Wolfe was arrested the following day after he crashed the victim’s truck.
