The Royals fell to the Detroit Tigers 3-1 in 10 innings at Kauffman Stadium. Michael Massey drove in the team’s lone run on an RBI single in the third inning. Lucas Erceg was charged with the loss and is 2-and-6 on the season after letting up two runs in less than two innings of relief. The Royals have lost three straight games and sit second in the AL Central at 82-and-70 but more importantly, hold a 4.5-game lead over the Tigers just outside the wild card. They host Detroit tonight. Alec Marsh is slated to start opposite Tarik Skubal.
