Beverly A. Matherly

Beverly Ann (Lay) Matherly was born to Vester and Eula (Dunivan) Lay in Dallas Center, lowa on May 7, 1940, the fourth of five children. Beverly graduated from Cabool High School in 1957 and went to work for Dr. Schuster’s dental office in Houston, Missouri.

In 1959, she married Terry Clyde Matherly and joined him at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Terry gives Beverly much credit in helping him complete his business degree.  Following Terry’s graduation, the couple moved to independence, Missouri where two sons were born; Steven Terry in 1962 and Curtis Clyde in 1964.  In 1968 the family moved to Cabool where they still reside today.

In 1968, Beverly began working as a dental assistant at Cartwright Dental and then transitioned to Accounts Receivable. After 20 years, she left the dental office to take over the accounts receivable for the Matherly family business.

Beverly accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior at an early age and we are grateful to know she is now healed.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Vester and Eula Lay and her brother, Loyal Lay. She is survived by her husband, Terry Matherly; sons, Steven Matherly (Stacy) and Curtis Matherly (Shilo); 6 Grandchildren, Jillian Adey (Zachary), Wil Matherly, Kara Lane (Patrick), Alyssa Cooley (Douglas), Austin Hunter (Katlynn) and Alexis Hunter; 2 great grandchildren, Bodey Hunter and Kizzie Cooley; 3 sisters, Joyce Parmenter, Loyce Lantz and Karen McLain and a host of very special nieces and nephews.

“Bev” loved her family and especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed making a beautiful home, traveling and reading. Taking care of herself was a priority. She was a power walker until she was unable to continue.
