Norwood, MO. – A local animal rescue, Ozarks Pet Rescue, has successfully captured a dog believed to have been on the run for eight months. After numerous attempts to catch the dog during these months, the rescue team finally succeeded on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
Although they tried using live traps, they ultimately had to use a tranquilizer gun to safely capture him. Ozarks Pet Rescue would like to thank Jordan from Mountain Grove Animal Control, along with a dedicated group of over 10 volunteers, for assisting in the dog’s capture before he could be harmed. The dog is now at Williams Veterinary Clinic for a checkup and will soon head to the groomer for a much-needed bath.

Update!
The dog, now named Larry, was dropped off at the vet and weighed in at 22 lbs with fur and now weighs 19 pounds after they shaved off all the matted fur. He is negative for heartworms and Guardia but tested positive for Ehrlichia, which is a tick disease and also tested positive for whipworms.
He has an increased CBC which a long-lasting antibiotic was given to him to treat, he was neutered prior to coming to us, he’s not microchipped, and liver enzymes are elevated but can be stress-related or from anesthesia. Larry appears to be 3 years old and a Poodle mix.
Larry will begin his journey with the Ozarks Pet Rescue trainers after a week or 2 of decompression time! He starts several medications and then will be rechecked in a couple of weeks by our absolute AMAZING team at Williams Veterinary Clinic.
Here he is now!
