Willow Springs Bears vs Thayer Bobcats Football Recap

The Willow Springs Bears hosted the Thayer Bobcats for Friday night football. Coming into the game, the Bears were 3-5 on the year and the Bobcats’ record was 6-1. It was 58 degrees at kickoff in Willow Springs.

The Bears began the game with a strong drive into the red zone, but the Bobcats stopped them at the 20-yard line when the Bears failed to convert on fourth down. The Bobcats responded by marching down the field and securing a touchdown and extra point kick to make it 7-0 in favor of the Bobcats.

In the second quarter, the Bears took the ball all the way down to the seven-yard line but failed to convert on fourth down. The Bobcats responded by marching down the field yet again. 14-0 Bobcat lead.

Early in the next drive, the Bears threw an interception, and the Bobcats returned it for a touchdown. They missed the extra point. 20-0 Bobcat lead.

The Bears punted on the following drive. The Bobcats then put another touchdown on the board. 26-0 Bobcat lead at the half.

The Bobcats struck quickly again, scoring a touchdown with 9:04 left in the third quarter. They failed the extra point. 32-0 Bobcat lead.

Early in the next drive, the Bears botched a handoff and turned the ball over in their own territory. The Bobcats capitalized on the error. They scored another touchdown and tacked on a two-point conversion. 40-0 Bobcat lead in the third.

The Bobcats forced a short punt on the next drive, then put another touchdown and extra point on the board. 47-0 Bobcats leading the Bears with 1:43 left in the third.

With the wide margin in the score, the clock was left to run for the fourth quarter, limiting additional opportunities to score.

Bobcats defeated the Bears 47-0.

The Bears head to Ava for a Thursday night game next week.
