Cabool, MO. – A woman from Cabool is facing felony charges of child kidnapping and resisting arrest after attempting to take two children from their father and hiding from the police.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the arrest on December 27 began when Corporal Sigman of the Texas County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a residence to arrest Caylee Briggs, 34, of Cabool. Briggs took the children inside to change clothes and put on jackets, only to flee into a nearby wooded area.
Three hours later, Briggs was found with both children in overgrowth near a roadway. She then attempted to resist arrest.
Briggs is reported to have no relation to either child and only lived with them. She further claimed she was protecting the children from their father, who allegedly whipped them with a belt. However, no DFS or law enforcement reports supported this claim.
