Baxter Health is proud to announce that Cline Emergency Center has been awarded the “Gold Tier” designation for Pediatric Readiness by the Arkansas Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) State Partnership Program. This recognition highlights Baxter Health’s unwavering commitment to providing the highest quality care for children in emergency situations.
Gold recognition is given to healthcare facilities that demonstrate exceptional capabilities in delivering safe and effective emergency medical care to pediatric patients. The EMSC program assesses hospitals on a variety of factors including specialized pediatric care, facility preparedness, and staff training. Baxter Health Cline Emergency Center successfully met and exceeded all criteria, solidifying its position as a leader in pediatric emergency care in the region.

After attending the Trauma Update Conference in Spring 2022, where Dr. Todd Maxson and Dr. Deidra Wyrick, trauma surgeons at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, led presentations, a team was formed at Baxter Health to address the growing number of pediatric patients seen in the Cline Emergency Center. Led by Dr. Caleb Pingel, the team included Kelly Dicks, Cline Emergency Center Director; Sarah Dewey, Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC); Robyn Pyle, RN; Sierra Small, ANP; and Amorie Smith, APRN. They reviewed policies, procedures, equipment, and medications, collaborating with other departments to improve pediatric care and ensure the highest quality of service for young patients. After a challenging year, Baxter Health achieved “Gold Tier,” the highest possible designation, and was named an official Pediatric Ready Hospital. Baxter Health is now one of only three hospitals in Arkansas to hold this recognition.
“Cline Emergency Center has found a passion for improving pediatric care,” said Sarah Dewey, R.N. PECC. “All of the diligent work provided by our team including respiratory, EMS, pharmacy, med/surg, OB/nursery have been able to set a higher standard of care provided to our pediatric patients. As an emergency department that treats patients of all demographics, we are raising the standard for care delivery to a new level of excellence in pediatric care. Receiving this recognition is such an honor.”
