Dose of Goodness: Cedarhurst’s Dream Come True Program Becomes A Wish Fulfilled: Jack’s Journey to Bass Pro

Imagine having the chance to fulfill one lifelong dream. That’s exactly what Cedarhurst offers its residents through its annual Dream Come TRUE program.

Launched in 2023, this heartwarming initiative was created to inspire, uplift, and bring joy to Cedarhurst’s senior residents. Kimberly Harralston, Cedarhurst Life Enrichment Director, explained,

“That belief is at the heart of our Dream Come TRUE program. It reflects our mission to create communities where residents feel loved, valued, and supported to live life to the fullest. Through this initiative, we fulfill meaningful aspirations, showing that dreams can be achieved at any stage of life.”

Every Cedarhurst Senior Living community across eight states selects a resident to have their dream come true. In 2024 alone, nearly 50 dreams were fulfilled.

The selection process is simple and fair: residents submit their dream requests, and at the end of a month-long entry period, Harralston draws a winner at random. Each community receives $1,000 from Cedarhurst’s home office to bring the resident’s dream to life.

“Our Dream Come TRUE program goes beyond fulfilling wishes,” Harralston added. “It’s about celebrating the rich stories, passions, and unique journeys of our residents. Every dream we bring to life is a testament to our commitment to fostering vibrant, inspiring communities where every life is honored and celebrated.”

This year’s recipient of the Dream Come TRUE wish is Mr. Jack Watson, a beloved member of the Cedarhurst community. Throughout his life, Jack found immense joy in hunting and fishing, spending countless hours outdoors with family and friends. Despite his lifelong passion, he never had the opportunity to visit the iconic Bass Pro Shops. Thanks to Cedarhurst, that dream is now a reality.

Jack’s dream trip includes a visit to the Bass Pro Shops “Wonders of Wildlife” Museum and Aquarium in Springfield, a delicious lunch at Hemingway’s, a shopping spree at Bass Pro Shops, and a sweet ending with his favorite treat at Andy’s Frozen Custard.

“I can’t wait to finally see the museum and pick out some new clothes at Bass Pro,” Jack shared with a wide smile.

It’s Never Too Late to Dream

Cedarhurst’s Dream Come TRUE program proves that it’s never too late to fulfill a lifelong wish. Whether it’s reliving cherished memories or experiencing something new, these dreams offer residents moments of pure joy and lasting happiness.

Communities worldwide are powered by everyday heroes—quiet champions who work behind the scenes, not seeking recognition but the simple joy of seeing someone else smile. Cedarhurst embodies this spirit, showing that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a world of difference.

For Mr. Jack Watson, his dream wasn’t just about visiting a store or a museum—it was about reconnecting with a part of himself, celebrating a life filled with passion and purpose.

To the Cedarhurst community: Thank you. Your dedication to enriching the lives of your residents is truly inspiring. You remind us all that dreams have no expiration date—and that kindness, above all, is timeless.
