The Liberty Lady Eagles faced the Thayer Lady Bobcats for Senior Saturday on Febuuary 22nd, 2025. While the Lady Eagles had an intense start to the game, they were outscored by the Lady Eagles by a Final Score of 71-64
Summary:
1st Quarter: Tip controlled by the Thayer Lady Bobcats and taken away. A series of passes exchanged by Eagles and first blood drawn by Ella Phipps with a good three pointer. Rebound Lady Bobcats and put up for two twice by Rayleigh Davis. Lady Eagles are attacking the post and seem to be exhibiting a nice level of preparation. Ball game tied 5-5 with a bucket by Korrie Lind for the Lady Eagles. Increases to 8-5 as Lind shoots one more but a foul call and Davis shoots two to make it a one point game for the Lady Bobcats. Rebound Lady Eagles and a floater by Ashlynn Henry. Lady Bobcats try for another two but goes out of bounds. Picked up and put back in for three by Hadley Chowning. Bobcats attack back with a three by Davis and taken back by Lady Eagles for another two off the glass by Delani Ellett. Lady Bobcats have five team fouls and this allows Lady Eagles to take a 26-11 lead at the end of one.
2nd Quarter: Lady Bobcats nearly take possession of the ball to start the quarter but goes out of bounds. Lady Eagles try to pull off another three but pick up another foul and the ball goes back to the Lady Bobcats. A three by senior Abby Bowers narrows it down to nine and this is just about where things stay. But answered back by Lady Eagles as Ella Phipps makes another three. Jaylee Tharp with a nice turnaround jumper and this juggles out a few more steals by Bobcats. Another three by Phipps, her second of the half. Reverse layup by Chowning forces the Lady Bobcats into yet another time out. The pressure doesn’t stop as another reverse layup is good by Chowning. Back to the Lady Bobcats as another three is good by Bowers, her third in a row. Taken back to the Lady Eagles. Another good two by Jaylee Tharp is good but a foul call and this gives Kadyn Hilles a chance to shoot two. Bobcats begin to match the pressure as Hilles makes a good three on the next rebound. Back to Lady Eagles and another reverse pass by Delani Ellett. Another layup by Chowning which Lady Eagles try to keep but picked up by Bowers for the Lady Bobcats. Bobcats keep the ball for about a minute and then Lady Eagles try for another three off of Chowning but time runs out.
HALFTIME- Liberty Lady Eagles: 42/ Thayer Lady Bobcats: 31
3rd Quarter: Another two by Phipps starts the Quarter for the Lady as well as two for Davis for the Lady Bobcats. Lady Bobcats narrow it all the way down to four as Bowers shoots a three but answered back as Hadley Chowning shoots a three. Back to Thayer and another three by Bowers. Bobcats are having early success slowing down the tempo. Back to Lady Eagles and a two by Ashlynn Henry is good. Pretty much every Lady Bobcat possession by this point has some movement in it. Chowing cuts it back down to two as the Bobcat charge begins to creep up. Spin move good by Allyson Kerley who has six for the Lady Bobcats. Rebound and another jumper by Henry.
*Lady Eagles lead by Five, 55-51 at the end of three.
4th Quarter: Two free throws by Chowning to start the last eight minutes, she makes one. A three by Riley Pierce for the Lady Bobcats ties the game up at 56. Lady Bobcats spreading out to a 2-3 zone on offense. Game continues to stay tied up for about two minutes but a two by Davis gives the Bobcats a two point lead, 59-57. Another Lady Eagle turnover allows Davis to score yet another but taken back by Ellett for one more. Abby Bowers for the Bobcats tries for a three but incomplete, she puts the Lady Bobcats ahead by four. Two more by Phipps narrows it back to two.
Finally a foul on Bowers allows Lady Eagles brings the game back to a tie off a steal by Korrie Lind. Bowers now fouls Henry for the Eagles and makes 2-3 at the line with a one point game. Another foul and now Korrie Lind will go to the line fouling Kerley for the Bobcats. Lind misses her free throws as it will remain a one point game. The fouls just keep coming as Bowers shoots two more and now Bobcats regain the lead.
Bowers makes another two free throws after fouling Ella Phipps. Phipps gets two free throws with 13.1 seconds to go and makes one but a foul on the next rebound, Ryleigh Davis shoots two more for the Lady Bobcats as they secure the win. 2.3 seconds to go and Lind tries to put a little bit of the victory
