Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, who has served the citizens of Baxter County for more than two decades, has announced that he will officially retire at the end of his current term on December 31, 2026.
As part of this transition, Sheriff Montgomery will be holding a special public event today — Thursday, March 6 — at 2:00 p.m. on the south lawn of the Baxter County Courthouse.
Sheriff Montgomery’s long career in law enforcement has spanned more than 20 years, making him one of the county’s longest-serving sheriffs.
