West Plains Man Charged with Arson and Assault

A Howell County man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he started a fire inside his home during a violent domestic incident late Monday night. According to the probable cause statement, deputies were called to a residence on State Route 14 after a woman reported that her husband, Timothy Ray Fuqua, was destroying property and threatening to burn the house down.

When deputies arrived, they found the woman hysterical and smoke coming from the small residence. After forcing entry, deputies located Fuqua hiding in a loft and refusing to come down. The report states he ignored commands, told deputies to “tase him” or “shoot him,” and made suicidal statements before being taken into custody.

The victim told deputies Fuqua had become enraged during an argument, pushed her back by the neck, released several dogs that began fighting, and then lit a fire inside the home. Firefighters later identified a melted bucket and blanket as the apparent source.

Fuqua was arrested with bond set at $25,000. He is accused of second‑degree arson and third‑degree domestic assault.
