WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and partners — including elementary students — recently turned flower beds into pollinator plots in West Plains.
MDC’s Ozark Region partnered with the City of West Plains, 24 third grade students from Southfork Elementary, and Downtown West Plains to complete the project.
“We planted 17 different species and 540 total plants,” said MDC Fisheries Biologist Jared Brassfield. “We used this project to educate students and the community on the importance of native pollinators, while also adding native beauty to downtown West Plains.”
This project was funded in part by Community Conservation Cost Share.
