Memorial Services for Thomas E. Alsup, Age 95 of Texas County, Missouri will be held on Saturday, June 6th, 2026 at The Cabool Christian Church, Cabool, Missouri, beginning at 11:00 AM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Thomas Edgar Alsup was born in Ava, Missouri on July 20, 1929. He departed this life in Cabool, Missouri on May 17, 2026. Tom grew up on the family farm on Fox Creek just south of Denlow. He attended Mountain Grove High School where he played football and attempted to play trombone in the band. He studied at SMS in Springfield before serving in the U.S. Air Force. He also spent some time working the wheat harvest out west.
In 1955 he married Roberta Turner and they made a home on the family farm. Tom had many stories to tell about raising his boys, working the cattle, hauling hay, canoeing, and a host of other activities and adventures.
Tom began a new chapter in his life in 1990, when he married Vivian Holmes. Together they raised cattle and ostriches, and traveled many miles in their fifth wheel camper. In the colder months they were “Winter Texans”, spending their time in Edinburg, Texas.
In addition to farming, Tom worked a stint at Mid-America Dairy in Cabool, and did carpentry work all over Douglas, Wright and Texas counties. He was also very active in church, serving Trinity United Methodist Church in Mountain Grove, and later, First Christian Church in Cabool.
This brief obituary cannot come close to describing the rich, full life that Tom lived. He was constantly involved in ventures and adventures. He was known for his sense of humor and his willingness to help others. His truly was a life well lived.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Charles Noel Alsup and Trilby Vivian Estes Alsup, wife Roberta Dixon, brother Charles (June) Alsup, sisters Annabelle (Woody) Boswell, Jane (Bill) Hegle, and Grace (Ralph) Huff, sons Shelton (Barb), Dale Edgar, and Danny (Jan). He is survived by his wife Vivian, son Steve (Deb), step children Kirby (Carly), Valinda, Tabby, and David (Charity), 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will cherish their memories of him.
