A West Plains man faces felony charges after police say he forced his way into an occupied home Thursday morning. According to a probable cause statement filed by West Plains Police Officer Nathaniel Siegrist, officers were dispatched around 8:18 a.m. to the 1000 block of West Third Street for a burglary in progress. Dispatch reported a white male had entered the home through a window, wearing a light blue shirt, khaki shorts and green shoes.
Police located David Brian Woods at Carmichael Field shortly afterward. He was shirtless and barefoot but matched the description, and the light blue shirt was found nearby. The victims told officers they were asleep when they heard their dogs bark, then saw Woods crawl through their bedroom window after the air‑conditioning unit had been forcibly removed. One victim pushed Woods back out the window, leaving behind a shoe and hat inside the room.
Officers documented damage to the window, air‑conditioning unit and mounting brackets, with the victim estimating about $100 in losses. During an interview, Woods reportedly admitted removing the AC unit and entering the residence. He was arrested and booked into the West Plains Jail on a $10,000 bond.
