Storms Lead Into Heat Advisory, Followed by More Storms This Week

This second week of June is proving to be an odd weather week as we begin to officially wave goodbye to spring. Storms yesterday have now led into hot, sticky temperatures that have led into a heat advisory over the next few days, which will then lead to more potentially severe weather by the end of the work week.

According to the latest information packet from the National Weather Service, heat index values are expected to reach around the range of 100 to 105 over the next few days, with high heat during the night only adding to the increased temperature values. Caution in high heat conditions is advised. Remember, it only will take 20 to 30 minutes of work in direct sunlight to create an onset of heat-related illness. This heat wave is expected to last through to Thursday, where we will see severe weather chances once again return to the listening area.

For nearly the entire area, a 2/5 risk chance is currently observed, with severe weather chances reducing south into Arkansas. Fortunately, this storm is being brought on by a cool front that will help to bring relief from the heat as we go into a rainy weekend.
