Mountain View Woman After Being Struck by a U-Haul in Shannon County

A Mountain View woman was injured Monday afternoon when a van accelerated forward in a parking lot and struck both her and a building along Highway 106, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers report the incident occurred at 3:45 p.m., roughly three miles east of Summersville, on private property adjacent to the highway. Investigators say a 70‑year‑old woman, driving a 2025 Ford Transit Z50 rented through U‑Haul, was attempting to move through the lot when the vehicle suddenly surged forward.

The van hit a 47‑year‑old female pedestrian, also from Mountain View, before continuing into a nearby building. The pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View.

The driver, who was wearing a safety device, was not reported injured. The van sustained moderate damage but was able to be driven from the scene. The vehicle was listed as self‑insured through U‑Haul.
