Two 16‑year‑old boys from Ava were injured Saturday afternoon in a crash on Missouri Route Y, five miles west of Ava.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 12:05 p.m. when a westbound 2004 Dodge Dakota ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The pickup was totaled and towed from the scene.

Both the driver and his passenger, neither of whom were wearing seat belts, suffered moderate injuries. They were transported by air ambulance to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.
