Armed Criminal Action and Weapons Charges from Oregon County Incident

A man is facing a of unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action after Oregon County deputies say he pointed a revolver at another man during a dispute on June 27. According to the probable cause statement, the reporting party told deputies that “Jim pointed a nickel plated revolver at his face” and that he feared for his life.

Deputy Samuel Barton wrote that he later located James Michael Stephens at a nearby residence, where Stephens admitted going to the man’s trailer to tell him to move off the property. Stephens also acknowledged pointing the revolver, which he said belonged to his late father, and stated he felt threatened.

A second man at the scene was found with a nickel‑plated semi‑automatic pistol, matching the reporting party’s description. Stephens bond has been set at $5000.00.
