A Mountain Home woman has been arrested after police say she caused more than $153,000 in damage to marble statues at Arkansas State University–Mountain Home.
According to a sworn affidavit, campus police contacted Mountain Home officers on July 7 after discovering vandalism inside the campus Marble Room. Officers reviewed surveillance video showing Janice Renee Donais pushing over multiple marble statues. In the affidavit, officers note Donais was seen “using her cellphone while inside the Marble Room recording prior to the incident,” and that the recording was posted live on her Facebook account, confirming her identity.
Damage to the statues totaled $153,000, and a judge found probable cause for Donais’ arrest on a charge of Criminal Mischief, a Class B felony. She was ordered held on $50,000 cash or professional bond.
