DOUGLAS COUNTY, Mo. — An Oldfield man faces drug and firearm charges following a July 12 traffic stop on State Highway C.
Adam James Wylie, 44, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and operating a motor vehicle without required taillights.
According to a probable cause statement filed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy James Pueppke stopped a Chevrolet truck pulling a trailer shortly before 11:30 p.m. after observing that the trailer’s taillights were not working.
While speaking with Wylie, Pueppke reportedly observed a rifle in the passenger seat. Wylie also told the deputy that a handgun was inside a bag on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Wylie reportedly consented to a search of the vehicle. Deputies allegedly found two smoking devices and a digital scale that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Authorities also seized a .22 caliber rifle and a 9 millimeter handgun. According to the statement, both firearms had live rounds in their chambers.
Wylie was arrested and transported to the Douglas County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges.
All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
