Funeral Services for Anna Marie Hughes Baker, Age 95 of Sharp County, Arkansas will be held on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 at The Tri-County Funeral Home, Highland, Arkansas, beginning at 2:00 PM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1:00 PM. Memorial donations are encouraged to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock and Children’s Home, Inc. in Paragould, Arkansas.

Anna Marie Hughes Baker, 95, of Williford and Hardy, Arkansas died July 18, 2026, at EagleCrest Nursing & Rehab Center in Ash Flat, Arkansas. She was born May 26, 1931 in Williford, the daughter of Walter Edison and Bessie Marie Yates Hughes. Ann was a proud graduate of Hardy High School in the Class of 1949 and attended Hardy School reunions through 2025. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, and ultimate babysitter.

Ann was employed by Weaver’s Motel in Hardy as a housekeeper for approximately ten years, employed by the Ozark Acres Land Company as mail clerk for approximately five years, and worked as a door-to-door Avon representative. She was a homemaker who loved to work in her flower beds and garden. She also pieced several quilts and quilted them by hand for her family members.

She was a member at the New Hope Baptist Church. and in her early years, she taught VBS and children’s Sunday school classes.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Floyd Edwin Baker; her parents; her brothers: Milton, Roland, Oland, W.E., and Bobby Hughes; her sisters, Wearlene Crook and Gearldene Bishop; and her son-in-law, Danny Slayton.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Slayton of Hardy; one granddaughter, Amanda Boyster and husband Jeff of Maumelle, Arkansas; one grandson, Aaron Slayton of Benton, Arkansas; one sister, Oleta Burton of Highland; Arkansas; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and good friends.
