The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 29 and 30 to unload and lower gates and related equipment. The closure has been coordinated with emergency and law‑enforcement agencies, and officials say the work is necessary to maintain the dam’s long‑term reliability.
Drivers will need to use alternate routes during the closure. Travel beyond the dam will require detours using Highway 5, Highway 126 through Midway and Gassville, Highway 62‑412 through Flippin, and Highway 178 into Bull Shoals.
