Funeral Services for Walter David Glover, Age 81 of Hartville, Missouri will be held on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026 at The Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri, beginning at 2:00 PM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in The Little Creek Cemetery, Hartville, Missouri.

Walter David Glover, son of the late Harold and Dora (DuBois) Glover, born January 4, 1945, in Canton, Illinois, departed this life on July 23, 2026, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky, at the age of 81.
Walter graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria, Illinois, in 1964, and furthered his education at Illinois Central College. In 1965, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, bravely serving his country during the Vietnam War with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He enjoyed a long and successful career as an Electrician and Technical Trainer with Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria, Illinois, retiring in 1994. Following his retirement, he worked part-time for Chillicothe Metal Company for several years. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, he purchased a farm in Mansfield, Missouri, where he found great joy in working the land, tending to his garden, and caring for an orchard of fruit trees.
A devout Baptist, his faith guided his life. He was fiercely loyal and honest. He believed deeply in his loved ones and made it a priority to attend every family event he could. Wonderfully handy, he was known to his family as someone who could fix anything. Family get-togethers and holidays were always highlighted by highly anticipated games of Scrabble, Sudoku, and crossword puzzles.
He had a great appreciation for nature and animals. He loved taking walks through local parks, most notably Desoto National Park, Robinson’s Preserve, and Emerson Point Preserve near his Florida home. Walter loved to travel; he explored the beauty of the United States, taking memorable trips to places like Montana, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, Arches National Park, the Grand Canyon, Crater Lake, Mount St. Helens, Sequoia National Forest, Key Largo, Niagara Falls, and Maine. He deeply valued connection, regularly attending family reunions in Texas, Minnesota, Michigan, and Massachusetts, as well as reunions with his Army buddies. Some of the places they traveled include Gettysburg, Washington, D.C., and Daytona Beach. This April he traveled to the Bahamas on a cruise with his church. In May, he embarked on a Viking cruise down the Danube River through Hungary, Germany, and Austria with his beloved wife, Rose.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, June Glover and Sharon (Joe) Garcia; his brothers, Norman (Nettie) Glover, Jack Glover, and James (Debbie) Glover.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Glover of Ellenton, FL; his children, Kimberly (Curt) Schultz of Bradenton, FL, Jodi (Paul) Webb of Bradenton, FL, and Eric Glover of Warsaw, KY; and his stepchildren, Michael Moss, Michelle (Dan) Scott, and Stephen Moss, all of Kansas City, KS. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Reagen (Andy) Bain, Logan Webb, Colton Schultz, and Courtney Schultz; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by all who knew him, including his many friends and extended family.
