A West Plains woman is facing multiple felony charges after police say she was caught in the middle of an active burglary Sunday evening. According to a probable cause statement filed in Oregon County, officers were dispatched around 8:17 p.m. on July 26 after the homeowner’s father reported he was holding a female suspect at gunpoint during a break‑in. “Seated in the grass next to him was the defendant, Jessica Lynn Hahn,” Officer Joseph Nichol wrote in the report.
Police say Hahn had staged a large amount of property outside the home, including a loaded Rossi .20‑gauge/.223 combo rifle, ammunition, and a machete. “Hahn verbally admitted to placing the property and weapons outside next to the door,” the statement reads. Officers also recovered stolen items on her person, and she was found wearing the homeowner’s clothing.
Inside the residence, investigators located payroll, utility, and tax refund checks totaling $34,469.16, along with a vehicle title, all allegedly taken by Hahn. Officers later found forged insurance documents and stolen mail in her bag. Hahn also directed officers to the property mailbox, where opened mail belonging to the victim was recovered.
Police say Hahn admitted she had been released from prison within the past year, had smoked methamphetamine the night before, and had fled from Mammoth Spring Police earlier that day. The report notes she is prohibited from possessing firearms due to her prior felony status.
Hahn is charged with first‑degree burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm, and stealing. She was also found to have active extradition warrants out of Idaho.
