Woman charged with two counts of forgery

AVA, Mo. — A woman was arrested Aug. 3 after authorities allege she forged a victim’s signature on two checks and cashed them.

Donna Downs was arrested by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on two counts of forgery. An $8,000 cash-only bond was set in the case.

According to the sheriff’s office, the alleged incident occurred March 21, 2024, when Downs reportedly forged the victim’s signature on two checks before cashing them.

The case was investigated by Douglas County Detective N. Long.

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
