Jacks Fork Area Girl Scouts Looking for New Place to Meet After Flooding

The Girl Scouts of the Jack’s Fork Area are searching for a new place to meet after recent flooding severely damaged their building on Pine Street. The structure sustained a total loss, and officials are still determining whether repairs are possible.

For now, the troop has temporary space at the Mountain View Community Center through the end of September, but leaders say a long‑term solution is urgently needed beginning in October. They’re asking the community to help identify a safe, dependable location with bathroom access where the girls can meet Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at no cost.

Troop leaders say any suitable space will be considered — church classrooms, meeting rooms, unused offices, community buildings, or even an empty commercial property. They note that businesses or property owners who donate space may qualify for a charitable tax deduction for the value of the rent and should consult a tax professional for guidance.

Community members with available space or ideas are encouraged to contact the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce or reach out directly to troop leader Joyce Dixon. Organizers say sharing the request is just as important, as the right opportunity may come from someone who simply sees the message.

Mountain View residents have a long history of stepping up in times of need, and leaders hope that same spirit will help the Girl Scouts find a new home where they can continue learning, serving, and growing together.
