Funeral Services for Mary Kathleen Welch, Age 76 of Salem, Arkansas will be held on Monday, August 24th, 2026 at The Barker Funeral Home, Salem, Arkansas, beginning at 11:00 AM. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in The Wiseman Cemetery, Wiseman, Arkansas.
Mary Kathleen Welch, 76, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away on August 21, 2026, at Salem, Arkansas.
Mary was born on November 4, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to John Wesley Welch Sr. and Beatrice Mae (Bussel) Welch. She spent more than 20 years working as a debt collector for Professional Credit Management, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
A woman of the Baptist faith, Mary enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She loved taking pictures, shopping, and preparing meals for those she loved. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was known for her kind and caring heart. Affectionately known as “Aunt Kathy” and “Papa” to her loved ones, Mary held a special place in the lives of her family and friends. She deeply loved her family and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. She also shared a special bond with her beloved cat, Boots, who faithfully accompanied her for 21 years.
Mary is survived by her two brothers, Lee “Sonny” Welch of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and John Wesley Seckert of Niederkumbd, Germany; along with many other relatives and friends who will fondly remember her life and legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Welch Sr. and Beatrice Mae (Bussel) Welch; three brothers, John Wesley Welch Jr., Thomas Franklin Welch, and John “Buddy” Welch; and two sisters, Wanda Mae Walker and Georgette Ellen Wheat.

Mary will be remembered for her generous spirit, her devotion to family and friends, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met. Known lovingly as “Aunt Kathy” and “Papa” to those closest to her, she leaves behind countless cherished memories that will be treasured for generations. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
