A West Plains man was seriously injured late Saturday after his moped overturned on Highway 63. The crash happened around 9:10 p.m., roughly three miles south of West Plains, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Troopers report the 67‑year‑old man was traveling northbound on the shoulder of the highway on a 2025 Fengyuan Sunny moped when the vehicle struck debris. The impact caused the moped to overturn, throwing the rider. Investigators noted he was not using any safety device at the time of the crash.
Due to the severity of his injuries, the man was flown by air ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment. His moped sustained total damage and was towed from the scene at the request of the investigating trooper. No other vehicles were involved.
