Mountain Grove, MO. – Today, drivers can expect to see a group of student athletes running along 160 today as a part of a show of solidarity between communities.
In this “Zip Codes Don’t Matter” run, the Mountain Grove Panthers and Willow Springs Bears Cross Country teams will join forces to carry the game football from Willow Springs to Mountain Grove ahead of the schools’ upcoming match.
Coach Lori Hyde, organizer of the run, stated that this run “…showcases the strength of our communities, the grit of our student-athletes, and the importance of supporting every sport within our school districts”.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol have been called to help escort the student athletes along the route. Sergeant Eddie Young said on the event that it is a “great time to help support a community, and showing that we may be in two different zip codes, but we all support each other; we’re really happy to be able to take part in this event”.
This run will take place across roughly 27 miles, and is expected to operate from around 3:30pm to 6:30pm.
