Johnnie Lee Shelton

Johnnie Lee Shelton, of Franklin, Arkansas, passed away on September 15, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 23, 1929, in Franklin, Arkansas to George Thomas and Estie Shelton.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Forces and the United States Air Force as a flight line firefighter during the Korean War. He retired from Dolco Packaging in Decatur, Indiana. While in Indiana, he was a founding member of the Adams County Heart Club, which raised both awareness and funds for heart education and research.

Survivors include Joan (Louis) Braun of Saratoga, Wyoming; son Jay (Chong) Shelton of Van Buren, Arkansas; Lindsey (Zackary) Mack of New York City; Jonathan (Amie) Braun of Denver, Colorado; Nick (Katie) Grover of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Adam (Angelica) Grover of Sedalia, Missouri and numerous grand, great-grand, great-great- grandchildren and an abundance of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann and his eldest son, Jackson Garner.

In honoring John’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Interment will be at Robert’s Cemetery, Franklin, Arkansas, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife and son.
