Matt spent his younger years growing up in Saddle, Arkansas, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing sports. Shortly after graduating from high school, he began a career as a pipeliner, traveling throughout the country. Through years of hard work and dedication, he advanced in his profession and later became a welding inspector. Matt was known for his strong work ethic and was never one to sit idle. He always found something productive to do and took great pride in his work.

When he was home, Matt enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on the farm, and spending quality time with his daughter, Ryhlea, whom he affectionately called “Rat.” After welcoming his beloved dog, Skylar, into his life, she became his constant companion. The two spent countless hours together, and one of Matt’s greatest joys was having Skylar by his side wherever he went.

Matt was an avid football and baseball fan. He enjoyed watching games from home and attending as many sporting events as possible. He also loved traveling and learning about history, always eager to explore new places and discover something new.

Perhaps one of the greatest gifts Matt left behind was the wisdom he shared with his daughter. One phrase he often repeated, and one she will never forget, was: “It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.” It is a lesson that continues to guide her life today.

Matt was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his two daughters, Ryhlea Castaneda and Tayhlor Guffey, both of Viola, Arkansas; his brother, Daniel Castaneda of California; his mother, Debra Galkoski of Saddle, Arkansas; his beloved dog, Skylar; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Galkoski.
