Flippin, AR. – A local man received a presidential pardon for his participation in the January 6, 2021, actions against the Capitol in Washington D.C. On Monday, President Donald Trump issued over 1,500 pardons and halted all investigations and prosecutions against citizens who participated in the actions against the white house.
A small business owner from Marion County, John Mott of Flippin, was one of eight Arkansas natives granted a presidential pardon for his actions. He served 30 days in federal prison after pleading guilty to parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. He was also ordered to pay $500 in restitution for damages to the historic Capitol and costs incurred by the U.S. Capitol Police.
Mott will now receive a certificate of pardon in the mail and, following President Donald Trump’s pardon, will be released from a four-year probation period.
