FEATURED PET OF THE DAY-
The City of Mountain Grove Animal Control is Seeking Licensed Rescue for this 9 month old, male, greyhound/poodle mix named Beethoven.
He was relinquished because his elderly owner could no longer care for him properly.
He is said to be potty trained, leash trained, good with kids and a quiet and gentle dog.
When this guy came in to the shelter he was gentle, mild mannered and calm. Since being in the shelter, he has shut down and now just trembles in his kennel and has begun to show distance-increasing behavior.
He is sensitive to handling under high-stress conditions like the shelter. He HAS NOT bitten, but gives clear signals that he may. The shelter cannot confidently adopt him out to the public showing this behavior, however, they truly feel this dog will do just fine once he is out of the shelter, and believe a foster situation through rescue will be a good fit for him to decompress. He can still be handled with a slip lead even when he is anxious, and taking him outside of the shelter greatly reduces his anxiety immediately.
This dog is at risk of euthanasia if a rescue cannot take him. We are absolutely hoping to avoid that situation, so he needs a rescue tag quickly as the shelter kennels are currently full.
