3 MSU-West Plains students place in PBL State Leadership Conference contests

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Three students from the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) business club at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) placed in competitions offered by the PBL State Leadership Conference this spring.

The conference took place April 9 at Missouri State University in Springfield, said Dr. Ed Birdyshaw, PBL faculty adviser and associate professor of economics at Missouri State-West Plains.

Competitive events were held throughout the semester and culminated during the conference, he explained. Students from colleges all across Missouri competed in the events, he added. 

  • Cheyenne Cavitt, West Plains, placed first in Public Speaking and fourth in Impromptu Speaking.
  • Elaine Vaughan, West Plains, placed first in Entrepreneurship Concepts.
  • Micah Amos, West Plains, placed fourth in Accounting Principles and in Marketing Concepts.

 All three have qualified for competitions at the PBL National Leadership Experience set for June 24-27 in Chicago, Illinois.

PBL is a career and technical student organization that includes divisions at the middle school, high school, collegiate and professional levels in all 50 states.
