West Plains, MO. – A Thayer man charged with the sexual abuse of a 5-year-old child is scheduled to go to trial next year.
It will be more than two years since the arrest of Anthony L. Knighton that he will go to trial on the charges of two counts of 2nd Degree Child Molestation and two counts of 1st Degree Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy, all charges with a child less than 12 years old.
Knighton was arrested in January 2021 by Thayer Police following an investigation by Missouri Children’s Division. Knighton has been held in the Oregon County Jail with no bond since 2021.
On June 1, 2023, the date was set for a Jury Trial to be held on January 17-19, 2024 and his bond was amended to $100,000 cash or corporate surety. According to online court documents, he has not posted a bond and remains in custody.
