4/5 Risk of Severe Storms Friday in Eastern Ozarks; Fire Threat Continues

The National Weather Service in Springfield has released their latest weather forecast detailing severe weather conditions in the Ozarks. Outlined are damaging winds, an elevated risk of severe thunderstorms, and widespread fire risk.

While the storm potential time will only span across roughly 6 hours between 4pm to 10pm on Friday, high-speed winds will be in play through most of Friday. Winds in our area are expected to range from 25 to 55mph. Tornado chances for areas in a line from Howell County and further east stand between 10-14%.

Lastly, a fire weather watch, highlighting that fire risk potential is heightened at this time will remain in effect until early Saturday morning. Fire control within the listening area has proven to be difficult within the past week, with agencies in western counties of the area claiming to be stretched to their limits containing fires.
