Licking, MO. – On June 3rd multiple organizations in and around the Licking area came together to fight a fire that started at Ozarks Shavings, a local producer of wood shavings, dust, and mulch.
Dispatch time began after 8:30pm, and multiple vehicles and pieces of equipment were called in from several local fire-fighting agencies after smoke was confirmed. A hopper appeared to have caught fire and was burning on the inside. According to a report from the Licking Rural Fire Department, 45,000 gallons of water and roughly 3.5 hours were used to put out the fire.
In attendance and assistance in this effort were the Licking Rural Fire Department, the Licking Police Department, the Licking Water Department, the City of Houston and Houston Rural Fire Departments, The Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department, Texas County 911, and TCMH. Lastly, the Licking Chamber of Commerce donated food and water to the working emergency responders.
