According to the probable cause statement, an officer with the Alton Police was investigating a domestic disturbance on Thursday, Dec. 7th, and spotted Gilpin through a window as the suspect was shoving a person against a couch. The officer entered the residence, yelling at the suspect to get off the second person when the officer says Gilpin charged at him and began to punch the officer in the side of the head.

Gilpin is said to have left the residence and paced in the front yard after the officer produced a pepper spray device in an attempt to stop the assault. Gilpin surrendered after the officer called for assistance and was taken into custody.

The Alton officer noted Gilpin had threatened to come to the officer’s home during his transport to the Dent County Jail following his arrest.
