An Alton man is facing two felony charges after he assaulted a man over an argument over bushes, according to the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office.
The probable cause affidavit on the case states that Deputy Shannon Gregory arrived at the residence of a victim where a report of an assault was called in. After speaking with the victim, a witness, and seeing a video of the event, it was confirmed that Gary Brown, born 1954, had thrown rocks at the victim and brandished a knife, additionally threatening to slash the face of the victim.
While initially denying the allegations against him, Brown later produced two pocket knives in a later interview and recanted his statements before being arrested.
He is now facing charges including felony 2nd degree assault of a special victim, felony armed criminal action, and misdemeanor 2nd degree harassment.
