AR. Woman Charged on Manslaughter Charge for Use of Fentanyl as Painkiller

Lakeview, AR. – A Baxter County woman is facing a Class Y felony charge after giving her husband fentanyl as a pain reliever, which led to his death.

This case stems back to May 20th, when law enforcement agents responded to a call about a deceased male and a possible fentanyl overdose.

Law enforcement found the body of the victim inside, and an investigation led to testimony from the victim’s wife, identified as Jennifer Kornegay, 51 of Lakeview, where she admitted to having given the victim fentanyl as a painkiller.

Medical examination of the body revealed the cause of death was a mix of oxycodone, fentanyl, and meth.

Kornegay has been charged with Felony Introduction of a Controlled Substance Into the Body of Another Person, Felony Manslaughter, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Endangering the Welfare of a Child x2, and Cruelty to Animals x4.

Kornegay has since been released on a $75,000 bond.
