Statement from Baxter County Sheriff’s Department:
A body believed to be that of a Lakeview man who was reported missing on Bull Shoals Lake on April 25, 2026 was recovered Monday afternoon, June 1st , from the water in an area Southwest of the Howard Creek Boat Ramp. Mark Alan Hanes, 48 years of age, had been reported missing by family members after he did not return from the dock. His vehicle was still parked at the location. Authorities searched for Mr. Hanes for several days without success in finding him.
Rangers with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers were conducting boat dock checks in the Howard Creek area yesterday and found the body. The body was taken to the boat ramp area and turned over to the County Coroner’s Office. The body appeared to be that of the missing man, however the body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for forensic examination to confirm the identity.
