West Plains, MO. – One person is reported injured after a car crashed through the front doors of a store in West Plains. The crash occurred at 1:17 p.m. at Dollar Tree in the Bruce Smith Parkway center.
An elderly man drove a red Buick LeSabre through the front doors of the business. According to the West Plains Police on the scene, the driver was uninjured in the crash. A young child that was inside the store was injured as a result of the crash and has been taken by South Howell County Ambulance to receive medical treatment. According to unconfirmed reports, the child has been airlifted to a hospital in Springfield. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.
UPDATE: The child who was injured in the accident was confirmed to be 2 years old. Injuries were serious, and the child was initially taken to Ozarks Healthcare before being transported via air ambulance to another hospital.
The driver has been reported as being a 78-year-old man and suffered no injuries.
The damage to the building appears to be and is reported as being superficial.
