AVA, Mo. — The City of Ava issued a statement this week seeking to clarify information circulating in the community about the city’s camera system.
Mayor Kirk Pueppke said the city does not currently use Flock Safety cameras and has no plans to implement them in the future.
According to the statement, cameras currently used by the city are not equipped with facial recognition software or license plate recognition software.
The city released the statement in an effort to provide residents with accurate information and address questions or concerns about the technology.
Pueppke encouraged anyone who has heard otherwise or has questions about the city’s cameras to contact City Hall. Residents may call City Hall or stop by to schedule an appointment with the mayor if he is out of the office.
“We want to ensure our residents have accurate details regarding this topic,” Pueppke said in the statement.
The mayor thanked residents for remaining engaged in local issues and for their continued partnership in keeping Ava safe and informed.
