City of Salem, MO. Finishes Construction on New Water Tower

Salem, MO. – The City of Salem, Missouri announced last week the finalization of a project that began construction last fall. This is a new water tower which will allow for further projects on the other aging towers within the town.

This was announced this past Friday, with the $3.8 million-dollar project being made possible due to ARPA funds that required only a 1% match.

Steve Pain, Public Works Director of Salem, stated that this actually began in 2017 when conversations with engineer Archer Elgin included rehabilitation of older water towers in town. A backup tower would be required in order to help make up for the loss while those projects would be underway.

The new tower is said to pump around 150 gallons of water per minute.

With this project complete, talks are now being had to improve other locations, with the Industrial Park tower being next.
