Gainesville, MO. – A woman was fatally injured and a juvenile was seriously injured following a crash with a cow.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash report, the crash occurred on June 17, 2024, at 9:58 p.m., 6 miles northwest of Gainesville. 31-year-old Holly Cooke was driving a 1998 Lincoln Town Car southbound on Highway 5 when the vehicle stuck a cow in the roadway. Cooke was fatally injured from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 10-year-old male passenger was seriously injured and transported via air ambulance to Mercy Children’s Hospital in Springfield.
This is Troop G’s 11th fatality for 2024 as opposed to 14 at the same time last year.
